Different Types of Roti


I am vacationing in India right now and enjoying some fabulous home cooked food. Every time I visit India, I ask my mother’s friend Veena aunty to teach me her amazing recipes. Veena aunty has such a love for cooking, you can taste the passion in her food. This time she showed me how to make her paneer paratha recipe.

Ganesh chaturthi is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesha across India. According to Indian traditions, dishes such as halwa and puri are must to be added in the menu of the birthday celebrations. Same is the case with the birthday of Gods.

Akki rotti is a karnataka speciality. Akki means rice in kannada. Rice flour is used to make rottis. One can make so many different kinds of akki rottis. Most common one is rice flour mixed with coconut, cumin seeds and salt (called plain rotti). Other one is masala rotti made using carrot, onion, corriander leaves, chillies, cumin seeds.

Combine all the ingredients and knead well with a light hand to make a dough. Put a little water if necessary. Divide into equal parts.
